Without further ado, I'd like to introduce you to the latest addition to the com.x family - the website! You can find it at:

It's back and will be going through various stages of evolution over the next few months. The important thing is, it's back. We will now be blogging directly from the com.x site. Apologies to those that have been following this blog, but it makes sense that if you want to know "What's New", then you click on the link and find regular updates at our real home. We'll probably drop by here every now and then to let people know we're living somewhere else, but you'll find the same goodness, if not more at the com.x domain proper. So, pop 'round the corner and enjoy yourselves.

To give you an update on the Diamond U.S. shipments.

This is the information we've had back direct from the source:

Cla$$war will now be 15th or possibly even 22nd (April).

Razorjack will likely be 22nd or possibly 29th (April).

Our own shipment of books went out to our Venice, CA office on Friday, with expected delivery by Thursday this week. This means that Amazon.com will be able to fulfill any orders placed on their site pretty swiftly, as will anybody else that's being serviced directly. More info, as it comes.

Heidi MacDonald at The Beat has kindly linked to a great interview with John Higgins over at Mindless Ones. It's in-depth and informative and John talks all things Razorjack, Watchmen and Judge Dredd, to name but a few of the cool projects he's been involved in over the years.

Tom McLean over at bagsandboards has just written a very favourable review of Path, which we published last year. Check out the link and see what you think.

We've also just re-solicited the book with Diamond to coincide with the Cla$$war and Razorjack collected editions, so it should be back on your shelves in March. If not, we've set up an Amazon account in the U.S. so that you can purchase directly from there if you can't get hold of it.

Introducing 45

Seems like our posting on this blog is like London Buses - you wait for ages, then three turn up at the same time...

We've been keeping a low profile on this project and letting Andi do most of his own hyping (check out his '45' blog for more info), but as we are beginning to receive finished pages, we thought it would be a good time to start showing you some of the goodness yet to come out of the Com.x stable.

This page is a character called Jack Redden and it's been wonderfully executed by Admira Wijaya (Hercules: The Thracian Wars, published by Radical Comics). As is typical of us here at Com.x, this project will be unlike anything you've seen so far in the comics genre. The talent on this book is starting to read like a "Who's who" of the comic industry... More soon!

A slight delay back here at the studio, but the projects are coming along nicely. Solicitations for both Cla$$war and Razorjack collected editions have been submitted to Diamond and will be appearing in the January 2009 issue of Previews. Check out the covers above and watch out for them hitting the shelves around March/April next year!

Both John Higgins and Rob Williams have posted some info and commentary over on their respective sites, so click on over and check them out. More news is going to be added over the next few days, including some pages from each of the books and a first-glimpse at Andi Ewington's '45'.

Hot off the press. Len sent us the colours for the hardcover collected edition of Cla$$war over the weekend, so we're ready to solicit to Diamond this week. Just need to drop in the additional elements on the cover and we're ready to go. We've also received John (Higgins) cover for the collected edition of Razorjack, so we'll be posting that here over the next few days. We'll start posting more pages here soon, once we've ramped the PR up for both titles.

CLA$$WAR COLLECTED EDITION

Apologies for what appears to be weeks of inaction. We've been busy putting both the Cla$$war Hardcover collected edition and the Razorjack collected edition together. We thought we'd give you a taster of the new cover that Trevor has just created for Cla$$war. I think you'll agree that it's up to his usual exceptional standard. We can't wait to see Len's colours over the top of this. Eddie is busy on the lettering and design of the 200+ page CW book and will be jumping onto RJ as soon as they're happy that the project is production-ready.

John has created some awesome new work for Razorjack as well, and we'll be posting that here in a week or two, along with lots of other extras that we'll be featuring in the books. We're aiming to solicit both projects next month, ready for February 2009 shipping.

We're also hoping to attend the Birmingham Comicon in a few weeks time. More news later...

Hey all. Thought we'd let you know that the awesome John Higgins is doing a book signing at Methvens, South Street, Worthing, here in the UK on July 5th between 11am and 3pm. Those of you living close to, or in, Worthing should pop along and say "Hi".

John is busy working on the collected edition of Razorjack, which we'll be releasing a little later in the year. The collected edition will feature new art created exclusively for the book and we'll be posting some samples on this blog in a day or two leading up to the signing.

R.I.P. STAN WINSTON

We heard the sad news late last night, UK time.

Ben and myself have been fortunate enough in the past to attend a small tour of Stan's workshop and take a meeting in his board room. I still remember that moment we stepped into the room; every creation Stan had ever built was on display - from The Thing, to Aliens, to a velociraptor in Jurassic Park; even Pumpkinhead had stood the test of time and was given it's rightful place in the impressive line up that surrounded us.

You can't really describe the feeling you experience when you first walk in - it was like being eight years-old again, surrounded by all your favourite toys in the local toystore. I think we spent half the time paying attention to the meeting and half of the time just staring at all the cool creations around the room.

It's a sad day for us - Stan had as much influence and impact on Hollywood as any actor or director ever has. It wasn't just the models and prosthetics he moulded - he helped shape the film industry into what it is today.

Stan, your god has taken you from us, but your skills will never be forgotten and your creations will live on. Safe journey...

SCARY TALES

Don't think you guys have seen this yet. This is a project that we've been working on for quite some time, although it isn't a priority on our publishing schedule at the moment. This is Brother Grim - a three-issue mini-series that is an adaptation of a screenplay that Ben and Eddie wrote.

Gregory S Baldwin (Path) created the awesome cover art for us. We also have some character development work by Ben Oliver that we'll post soon. More updates soon - including some fantastic news regarding the hardcover edition of Cla$$war!

Here are a couple of colour images for Chip Manzee. The second composition is a work-in-progress. The story is currently going through first draft and Eddie is on writing duties. Once he's happy, the script will be handed over to Edu and Carlos and they will begin plotting out the pages. We should be able to give a clearer picture on release date once the art is underway.

We're pleased to announce that PATH is now available directly through Amazon.com in North America. As the weeks progress, we'll gradually be adding some of our other titles to the store, so if you find you can't source our books at your local retailer, you should be able to purchase directly from Amazon. We're also looking into setting up a UK-specific site, along with some other alternate online sources, to help consumers access our books.

Additional to this, we've now shipped our second order of books to Diamond, so the stores that have re-ordered should be receiving new stock in the next week or two.

Back from the expo in Bristol. Great to see lots of faces that we haven't seen for a while and we really appreciated the favourable reaction to the news of the relaunch of com.x

We kept a low profile this time - happy to just visit and check it out for the first time in four years.

We arrived around 10:30am on Saturday, managed to check in at our hotel and headed straight for the venue. Even though we queued for 25 minutes to get in, this was a very positive sign - you guys are still out there supporting the UK industry in your droves. When we finally walked through the front doors, we were surrounded by Stormtroopers, Chaos Space Marines, Mega-City One Judges, Batman & Robins, Jokers, artists, writers, retailers and even breast-feeding mums. Can't get a better variety of fans than that...

In usual industry fashion, Saturday night at the Ramada Hotel was where it all kicked off. Those that hadn't passed out from the alcohol they'd imbibed during the day were able to keep the bar staff busy right through to the wee hours.

All in all, a good weekend. Time to get back into work and put the solicitation together for the Cla$$war collected, which is due 15th May. More news, soon.

NO SELL OUT

So I've been informed by Diamond that, apparently, Path is selling out at retail in its first week of release. Selling out? Good Times! Haven't read it yet? Bad Times! But don't worry if you haven't been able to bag a copy yet - we over-printed on stock - so there are plenty to go 'round. As soon as we receive re-orders from Diamond we'll be shipping new stock back to them as soon as we can.

Orders are in for PATH. Whilst Ben is busy drumming up PR for the book and Gregory is chewing his nails in anticipation, I'm busy formatting the artwork. It's ready, we're proof-reading, and it will be sent to print tomorrow. We've generously over-ordered on the book, seeing as everything we've ever published sells out in the first few weeks, so as soon as it goes onto the Diamond Star System, there will be ample copies available at a moment's notice.

FOLLOW THE PATH - 7PM EST/4PM PST

It's hard to believe that PATH has been almost three (!) years in the making. Now, it's going to go out into the world and have a life of its own - and hopefully delight and inspire the people who decide to pick it up. Now that Gregory has finished writing and drawing (on PATH at least), and we've got the book locked, it definitely seems like a time to relax...

But wait! Now we're finally about to release, the realisation has sunk in that there's still tons to do - We've got to promote the hell out of this!

After all, this is our first book in almost three years. A couple of webzines and publications have already caught wind, and as such, we're pleased to announce that Gregory S Baldwin will be doing an interview on GGL's 'Epileptic Gaming' on Thursday, January 17.

Epileptic Gaming is a daily internet TV show about Video Games and the culture that surrounds it. Airing LIVE every weekday at 7PM EST (4PM PST) on EpilepticGaming.com, the hosts aim to bring you the best in gaming news, reviews and interviews.

Gregory will be speaking about the convergence of the comic book and videogame worlds, or, er... something like that. Actually, we have no idea what he's going to say, but it should be fun, so please tune in if you can, or catch it at your discretion in their archives.

WELCOME BACK

January 2008. Com.x press release.

After a three-year publishing hiatus, we are pleased to announce a brand-new 88 page graphic novel, created by Gregory S. Baldwin, entitled PATH.

Path has been solicited through Diamond Distribution for release in March 2008. The book is ready to go into production and we're just waiting for numbers from Diamond so that we can fulfill the orders.

So why a blog site? Well, we've experienced a number of changes in the last few months in terms of the company structure and unfortunately, it wasn't cost-effective for us to maintain the website whilst the restructuring took place. The ownership of the domain lapsed whilst negotiations went on and the site became inactive. We thought a blog would be a reasonable place to kick-start our relaunch, so this will be the best place to check on us for the foreseeable future.

We'll be posting some information soon on what we've been up to and why the long vacation. We're also hoping that by retaining this site as some kind of diary that it will give some insight into the independent publishing world.

I hope you come check us out on occasion - we have some cool plans for the company. Our release schedule will be slow, but we'll still be retaining the level of quality we've always had in our projects. Our next planned title which we will announce May/June will be the collected edition of series #1 of our most popular title from 2004 - CLA$$WAR. As we did not go back to reprint on issues #4, #5 and #6, we know there may be a lot of you readers out there that were frustrated that they could not get to finish the series, so we're going to fix that in our own inimitable way with a bumper edition that will knock your socks off. (Does that mean I've just announced it and you don't have to wait until May/June...?).
